THE Traffic Group of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) was temporarily disbanded with its personnel being redistributed to the various police stations in Davao City.
This redistribution was due to the "overwhelming" complaints of corrupt acts being practiced by some of the DCPO Traffic Group's personnel.
However, it seems that the punishment is far from over, as Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is strongly lobbying for the transfer of the members of the Traffic Group to the far-flung police stations, even as far as Paquibato District.
"Kulang ata tayo ng tao sa Paquibato," the city mayor told DCPO director Ramon Apolinario in a press conference Monday afternoon.
Duterte's ire flared when a member of the Traffic Group, who was newly transferred to a police station in the city's poblacion area, was reportedly back to his extorting tactics while investigating a road accident.
"There are a lot of people who are more qualified to be policemen, we do not need to endure them," Duterte said, adding: "We are being embarrassed by it."
He also said he has always been open to police officers who are in need.
"If you need anything, go to me, not to the stores or to the people," Duterte said. (CPM)
