Wednesday, October 08, 2008 Water district denies having hearing with Hedcor
THE Davao City Water District (DCWD) has denied any marathon hearing with the Aboitiz-owned Hedcor Corporation in Davao City this week.
"Between the two companies, there is no marathon hearing," said Imelda Magsuci, financial manager and spokesperson of DCWD. "The last hearing conducted by the NWRB (National Water Resources Board) here in Davao City was last September 8 to 12 when they also conducted an ocular inspection of the site where Hedcor is proposing to put up their hydropower plant."
Another local daily reported about the alleged hearing.
Magsuci added that the only hearing she has knowledge of right now is the one being conducted by the NWRB in Metro Manila wherein representatives of Hedcor and DCWD will present their sides.
Last week, Hedcor chief executive officer and president Rene Ronquillo visited the main office of DCWD at J.P. Laurel Ave., in Davao City to explain the new counter proposal of the power firm.
Sketchy details of the new counter proposal being offered by Hedcor showed that the power utility is reportedly willing to pump the water back to the elevation being eyed by the water utility.
DCWD is planning to tap the Tamugan River as its source of surface water, while the power company is eyeing to put up a hydropower plant in the area. (CPM)
