Friday, October 10, 2008 Rancho Palos Verdes Clubhouse is opening soon By Imee Garcia
IN THE locker room of a private golf club, a cell phone suddenly rings. Binggoy Montemayor picks it up and the following conversation ensues:
"Hello?"
"Honey, It's me."
"Sugar!"
"Are you at the club?"
"Yes."
"Great! I am at Joy Bernaldez Boutique shop in Bajada and I saw the new line of clothing and it's very gorgeous. The dresses are absolutely gorgeous!! Can I buy 10 dresses?"
"What's the price?"
"Only 50 thousand pesos"
"Well, OK, go ahead and get them, if you like them that much..."
"Ahhh and I met with Edgar Ang, stopped by the Chevrolet dealership and saw the new Chevrolet Captiva. It's a great car and reasonably priced...and since we need to get another car because 4 cars aren't enough..."
"What price did he quote you?"
"Only 1.5 Million pesos..."
"OK, but for that price I want it with all the options."
"Great! Before we hang up, something else..." "What?"
"It might look like a lot, but I was reconciling your bank account and...I stopped by the real estate agent this morning and I saw the house we had looked at last year at Ladislawa Village ... it's on sale! Remember? The one with a pool, English Garden, tennis court, acre of park area, and a view of Mount Apo..."
"How much are they asking?"
"Only 20 Million pesos... a magnificent price, and I see that we have that much in the bank to cover..."
"Well, then go ahead and buy it. But ask if you can get a discount, OK?"
"OK, sweetie... Thanks! I'll see you later!! I love you!!!"
"Bye... I do too..."
Binggoy hangs up and raises his hand while holding the phone and asks to all those present: "Does anyone know who this phone belongs to?"
Hay naku, very typical of my cousin Kuya Binggoy to do! (haha)
A great advice to all of you golfers out there--Never leave your phone laying around at the clubhouse or the locker room of your golf club. Golfers do get crazy once in awhile, especially when you beat them at a round of golf.
Speaking of clubhouses and locker rooms, the clubhouse of Rancho Palos Verdes Golf & Country Club (RPVGCC) will be opening very soon.
A clubhouse? Another clubhouse? Doesn't RPVGCC already have a clubhouse beside the golf course? Yes, that is correct. However, that is not the main clubhouse.
The main clubhouse, which is still under construction, is located at the Riverfront Drive, Corporate City, Diversion Highway, Maa, Davao City (where Davao Crocodile Park is located).
I was told by my brother-in-law, Sonny Dizon, that the tentative soft opening of the Rancho Palos Verdes Clubhouse is on New Year's eve. I am sure that the members of RPVGCC are happy to hear that the clubhouse is more accessible there than if it were built in Mandug.
For the ones who have gone to the Crocodile Park recently, you probably noticed that structure that is being built over there--THAT is the much awaited clubhouse.
Among the facilities we expect to see are: bowling alley, a world class gym, a huge swimming pool, spa/massage facilities, and of course, a restaurant.
The clubhouse is available to the members of RPVGCC. According to Sonny, it will also be available to the public. Shares of stock will most likely be sold in the future. Monthly memberships will probably be offered to the non-members of RPVGCC. Details about the opening and launching are still not clear to me.
However, I just want to let you know in advance that good things are happening soon and members of RPVGCC will have something to smile about.
