Monday, October 13, 2008 Filipino cue masters advance to semis in World Cup of Pool
FRANCISCO "Django" Bustamante and Dennis Orcollo continued their march towards pool greatness when they crushed the Japanese pair of Naoyuki Oi and Satoshi Kawabata, 9-2, to reach the semifinals of the 2008 World Cup of Pool in Rotterdam, Holland.
Bustamante and Orcollo have been on fire since the opening day as they have now have won a total of 25 racks and yielded only seven.
Against the Japanese, the Filipinos raced to a 3-1 lead and never looked back in a terrific pool mastery that sent their opponents crashing out of contention.
Bustamante and Orcollo will meet Team USA composed of Rodney Morris and Shane van Boening in the semifinals.
The American pair earlier defeated Jasmin Ouschan and Martin Kempter of Austria, 9-7.
Bustamante and Orcollo earlier booted out Denmark and Russia via convincing fashions.
The Philippines is a former winner in this event when Bustamante paired with Efren "Bata" Reyes to capture the 2006 crown. China won the title last year.
