3 escapees brought to city jail

THE three detainees recaptured after their escape from the detention cell of Sta. Ana Police Precinct last Sunday have been brought to the Davao City Jail in Ma-a.

Rolando Raneola, 40, a resident of Talicud Island in Island Garden City of Samal, who was facing robbery with intimidation charges; Carlo Compañada, 19, a resident of Tibungco Relocation, Davao City, who was facing attempted murder charges; and Eunito Cabalida, 18, a resident of Sitio Camarine in Daliao, Toril, who is facing charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 6539, were transferred to the Davao City Jail after police got a commitment order from the court.

Still being hunted is Marvin Mag-usara, 19, a resident of San Jose in Barangay Duterte. He was charged for illegal possession of firearms.

Information from police sources said Mag-usara may be somewhere in Davao Oriental.

The four detainees escaped around 4 a.m. of October 19 after sawing off the iron grills of their detention cell.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Southern Mindanao director Andres Caro II earlier said that appropriate sanctions await those who will be deemed to have neglected their duty resulting to the jail break.

It is believed that desk officer SPO2 Joel Banosan and his companion jail guard PO1 Archibald Celis were asleep during the jail break. (RMH)
