Regional police gear up for 'Undas'

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Southern Mindanao is now preparing for the upcoming holidays in commemoration of the All Saint’s and All Soul's days next weekend.

PRO launched Wednesday the "Oplan Kaluluwa" -- a campaign that will enhance police visibility and security at the Davao International Airport, different seaports, and bus terminals, among others.

According to Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II, PRO-Southern Mindanao director, they will also intensify their presence in cemeteries and other places where people usually converge during the observance of All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2.

"This will be to secure the public during said activities," Caro said.

Police personnel who will be deployed in different cemeteries in the region have been instructed to intensively conduct baggage checks and body searches.

"Stay vigilant and cooperate with their police to make these consecrated celebrations safe and peaceful," Caro asked of the people.

Caro reiterated the ban on deadly weapons, loud music, and intoxicating liquors within the cemeteries throughout Southern Mindanao.

The PRO will also assist commuters coming in and going out of Southern Mindanao. This move is in anticipation of the influx of commuters from provinces that may result in the increase of pressure on transport and traffic systems. (CPM)
