Court ok's bail reduction plea
By Rhodamae M. Hernandez

THE Regional Trial Court approved the motion to reduce the bailbond submitted by a man accused of trying to kill his neighbor at Bugac, Maa, Davao City earlier this month.

RTC Branch 17 Presiding Judge Ridgeway Tanjili granted Robin Letrero Avellanosa’s plea to post P60,000 for his provisional liberty instead of the P120,000 recommended bailbond.

Prosecutor Roberto Shahruddin Sencio found probable cause to hold him for court trial based on the complaint of the victim, Vicente Palima Roque Jr., 35, a resident of Kilometer 3 in Bugac, Maa, Davao city.

In his affidavit, Roque said he was watching television in his house around 7 p.m. of October 12 when Avellanosa barged in with a bolo and attacked him. He said he was able to push the suspect out but this did not stop Abellanosa from hacking the door.

He said the suspect stopped hacking at the door when their neighbors warned him they would call the police.

Avellanosa was arrested by the police soon after the incident.
