By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan

THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU)-led Unit 6 bagged three volleyball titles in the just-concluded Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet at the Davao City National High School.

Unit 6 walloped Unit 8, bannered by Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School, 25-15, 25-16, 25-12, in secondary girls championship match.

Ateneo secondary girls coach Exequiel "Iking" Tomines cited his players for the job well done.

"Krisna Perandos and Iza Ferrondo combined block defense while Mayet Zapanta, Alma Legazpina, and Aurora Cruz combined for 13 killer offenses, Patricia Santos made seven ace serves, and Eliza Dayanghirang was reliable on floor defense," Tomies said in text messages to Sun.Star.

Unit 6 also swept the elementary boys and girls volleyball crowns but it settled for the runner-up honors in the secondary boys event.

Over at the DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP), Unit 6 dominated the secondary and elementary boys and girls swimming events.

Top performers in the DCAA Meet will advance to the Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet where slots to the 2009 Palarong Pambansa set in Tacloban City are at stake.
