IED explodes in Pikit market By Malu C. Manar Correspondent
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday in front of a business establishment inside a public market in Pikit, North Cotabato.
Senior Inspector Elias Dandan, chief of Pikit police, said the explosive, fashioned from a Molotov bomb, partly damaged the facade of the store owned by Jose Roy Mangunay.

Mangunay, according to Dandan, received an extortion letter last week from a group identified as Red Spider.
No one was hurt during the explosion but it sowed fear in residents, Dandan said.
Police have yet to determine if the Red Spider is connected to Al Khobar, an extortion group that operates in Central Mindanao.
The Red Spider, Dandan said, is just a local group; meaning most of its members are residents of Pikit.
"We will try to find out who these people are and if they are connected to an armed group wrecking havoc in this part of the province," he said.
