As of this writing Friday, "Tonyo" is located at 70 kilometers west of the municipality of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It is expected to be 50 kilometers north of Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte by morning Saturday.

Based on the weather bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the weather disturbance which brought overcast skies in Davao City and rain showers the whole day Friday, has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center.

Due to its slow movement at 15 kilometers per hour westward, the weather bureau also raised a warning to all residents of low-lying areas within the path of "Tonyo".

"Residents in low-lying areas and mountain slopes under signal number 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides," the warning said.

Signal number 1 was raised over Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Island, Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin Island, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Bukidnon, North Cotabato, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato.

No major incident has been reported as of this writing Friday. (CPM)
