KORONADAL CITY -- Saudi Arabia is in need of some 2,000 Moro nurses, with a top official in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) calling on its professional nurses to grab this opportunity.
Datu Aladdin I. Ampatuan, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA)-Armm acting director, said that nurses are needed in hospitals in Medina and Mecca.
He lamented, however, a shortage of skilled applicants like engineers and construction workers in the area.
Owing to this, Ampatuan asked the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) to provide skills training to those interested to work in the construction industry.
"There is a stiff competition from other countries in as far as the quality of construction workers is concerned, the reason we need to upgrade our manpower's skills so that we will not be left out," he said. (BSS)
