112 teams in DFA football festival

A TOTAL Of 112 teams will see action in nine categories as the DFA Christmas Football Festival gets underway on Saturday at the Tionko Football Grounds.

Manuel Cris "Buboy" Arrieta II said the two-day bootfest will have the eight-under, 10-under, 12-under, 14-under and 16-under events for boys.

The girls' side, meanwhile, will have the elementary 12-under and high school 16-under divisions.

The champion teams in each category will receive a trophy and individual gold medals while the next two placers will be awarded with silver and bronze medals.

On Sunday, the festival resumes at 8:30 a.m. with the staging of the ladies open, men's open first division and men's open second division.

Trophies await the top three teams in the meet organized by the Davao Football Association and Rotary District governor Billy Parilla RI D-3860.

"Over 1,200 players along with their parents, guardians and football enthusiasts are expected to join the two-day festivity that aims to foster camaraderie among participants and spectators," Arrieta said.

The Ateneo de Davao University, Holy Child School of Davao, Abba's Orchard, Emar, Montserrat, Southpoint, SOS Children's Village, Catalunan Grande Elementary School, F. Bangoy Elementary School, Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Elementary School, Zonta Muslim Elementary School, University of the Immaculate Concepcion, Brokenshire College and Davao City National High School are among the teams seeing action.

Teams from Tagum City, Digos City, Malita-Davao del Sur, Compostela Valley and Agusan-Trento also signed up to join the festival backed up by PEPSI, Lorina Catering, Astrochair Balloons, Philippine National Red Cross and former DFA president Gerry Romero-Salas. MLSA
