Tax collection up 11.9%: BIR
By Rhodamae M. Hernandez

BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) district officer Jose Eric Furia said there was an increase in the collection of revenue taxes in Davao City.

"Nag increase tayo this year, kasi ang collection natin for last year was 4.2 billion and ngayon, January up to November, we have an actual collection of 4.7 billion," Furia told Sun.Star Davao.

The 11.9 percent increase was garnered even with the enactment of Republic Act 9504 or the law exempting the minimum wage earners to pay their taxes.

The collections are from the income taxes, the value added taxes, percentage tax, other taxes and excise taxes.

"From these collections, 80 percent of the collection came from the income tax and the VAT," Furia said in an interview.
