DFA holds two-day Christmas football fest

THE Davao Football Association starts Saturday its two-day Christmas Football Festival at Tionko Football Field on Quimpo Blvd. in Davao City.

The event is also sponsored by Rotary district governor Billy Parilla and supported by Pepsi, Lorina Catering, Astrochair Balloons, Philippine National Red Cross and DFA president Gerry Romero-Salas.

The event encourages a festive atmosphere, sportsmanship and camaraderie among players and spectators.

Playing categories and dates are as follows:

December 20, Saturday 8 a.m. (kick-off)

BOYS:
8 Under (2000)
10 Under (1998)
12 Under (1996)
14 Under (1994)
17 Under (1991)

GIRLS:
Elementary - 12 Under (1996)
High School - 16 Under (1992)

Prizes:

Boys Division
Champion -- Trophy and gold medals
2nd Runner Up -- Silver medals
3rd Runner Up -- Bronze medals

Girls Division
Champion -- Trophy and gold medals
2nd Runner Up -- Silver medals
3rd Runner Up -- Bronze medals

December 21, Sunday 8:30 a.m.

Ladies Open -- Open to all ladies.

Men's Open First Division -- First division players cannot play in the second division unless they are 30-years-old and above but must choose which category to play. Players are not allowed to switch division.

Men's Open Second Division -- Davao: players who did not play in the last tournament for any 1st division teams and/or 30-years-old and above. Out of town teams: players who did not play in the regional/national qualifier.

Prizes:

Mens (1st and 2nd division)
Champion -- Trophy
1st runner up -- Trophy
2nd runner up -- Trophy

Ladies
Champion -- Trophy
1st runner up -- Trophy
2nd runner up -- Trophy

Total team registered already reached 112 teams, 1200+ players, plus parents, entourages and spectators for the two days event.

These teams included Ateneo de Davao University, Holy Child, Abbas Orchard, Emar, Monserrat, Southpoint, SOS, Catalunan Grande Elementary School, F. Banggoy Elementary School, Kapitan Tomas Elementary School, Zonta Muslim Elementary School, UIC, Brokenshire, Davao City National High School.

Participating teams outside Davao City are from the cities of Tagum, Digos City and Malita in Davao del Sur, Compostela Valley and Trento in Agusan del Sur.
