Saturday, December 20, 2008 Traffic to worsen still
IF YOU think traffic along Davao City's road is already bad in the past few days, expect it to get worst as Christmas draws near.
With cheap gasoline prices and Christmas arriving in less than a week, traffic in the city, especially during rush hour, has been relatively heavier the past few days.
Traffic Management Command chief Celso Gempesaw told Sun.Star Davao that the volume of traffic in the city has already increased by 35 percent since November this year, compared to any ordinary day on any other time of the year.
Gempesaw attributed the increase to the influx of shoppers and retailers who are from the neighboring provinces of the city.
However, Gempesaw added that they are anticipating an increase in the volume of traffic in the city proper to increase further over this weekend, as Christmas is already on Thursday.
Being the last weekend before the nearly two-week long Christmas break, a frenzy of people doing last minute shopping, and rushing back to their provinces is expected this weekend. (CPM)
