ALBERTO Gorgonio and the Brilliant Pawnshop Team reaped top honors in two separate Davao City Bowlers Association (Daciba)-sanctioned tournaments held at the Dover Mega Lanes recently.
Gorgonio, a class B champion, captured the Grand Master Bowler of the Year 2008 title at the expense of class A champion Ivan Awid, class C champion Catalino Morales and ladies champion Che-Che Calida in the meet sponsored by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and Vice Mayor Sara Z. Duterte.
He went home with a total cash prize of P4,000 (P2,000 for the class B title and P2,000 for the grand master crown) with two trophies.
On Monday night, the Brilliant Pawnshop emerged champion in the Davao Memorial Cup Bowling Tournament, organized in honor of the late Domingo Vergara.
Brilliant Pawnshop, managed by team captain Nonoy Baluyot, received P15,000 cash prize, a trophy and the revolving trophy.
The Nonoy Calida-led NBA team, managed by Lando Bravo, settled for the runner-up prize of P10,000 and the Gerry Farin-led Answer Me Team of manager Bong Vergara received P7,000 for third and Plutie Banlasan-led Ayang's-Top Shot of Tim Ando got P5,000 for fourth.
Dennis Descallar of Namit Team, meanwhile, bagged the highest pinning award while Farin won the highest individual single. Ayang's-Top Shot took the highest team single title. (MLSA)
