Braveheart, ABS-CBN to stage fight card

ABS-CBN Network and the Braveheart Boxing Club have jointly agreed to stage a huge boxing event in Cebu City in February 2009 featuring at least four regional title fights.

The agreement, which has still to be signed, was reached recently following a meeting between ABS-CBN officials led by Vice President Peter Musngi and the Braveheart Boxing Club represented by North Cotabato Vice Gov. Manny Piñol and Chicago-based sportsman Rolly Hiso.

The Cebu City card which will feature the best professional boxers from Mindanao will be staged either Feb. 14 or 21 and will be aired on ABS-CBN stations including Studio 23 and The Filipino Channel.

The February event will signal the start of a quarterly boxing event that will later be staged in the United States of America in a proposed partnership between Braveheart Boxing Club and Braveheart Media Communications on one hand and US promoter Ed Holmes of the All-Star Boxing, Inc. of Whittier, California.

Expected to be featured in the Cebu City card are junior bantamweight prospect Jundy "Pretty Boy" Maraon, 23, bantamweight Rolando "Smooth Operator" Magbanua, 23, jr. flyweight Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong, and miniflyweight Rommel "My Little Assassin" Asenjo, 19.
