Monday, January 05, 2009 Pacquiao-Hatton fight in Vegas
FILIPINO boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao will be fighting British hero Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas, Nevada and not at UK's Wembey Arena.
According to Londo's The Telegraph, Top Rank's Bob Arum decided to stage the megabuck fight, which will take place on May 2, in a still undisclosed venue in Las Vegas.
Arum is the promoter of Pacquiao, who spent the holidays with his family in the United States.
It was reported earlier that the Hatton camp is pushing for the fight to be staged at Wembey Arena, which can seat around 100,000 paying fans.
However, US cable giant Home Box Office (HBO) has ruled out a UK venue and insisted the fight be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hatton is reportedly planning a long training for the Pacquiao fight. It will be Floyd Mayweather Sr. who will handle the British champion's training.
The 30-year-old Pacquiao had a banner year in 2008,0 winning all his three fights, the last one an eight-round destruction of boxing's top man Oscar "Golden Boy" De La Hoya.
