Bello said should the suspects ask for an extension, he will allow it.

"That is their right," he said.

The suspects were identified as Rodjie Almazan alias Jing Jing and Payat; his cousin, Joseph Almazan alias Bobong, a watcher of the Pawikan Sanctuary in Punta Dumalag; Danny Balo, a city hall employee; Isidro Ebol, said to be a sitio leader of Punta Dumalag, and one unidentified man were charged with murder for the death of Jerry Noya this month.

The witnesses, whose identities were withheld, said they were the gatekeepers of the New Year disco party around 3 a.m. of January 1 when Noya approached to check what was going on.

They were just a meter away when Rodhie shot Noya from behind. Balo arrived and shot Noya while Ebol stood behind him with a gun and prevented anyone from helping Noya.

The suspects fled after the incident. (RMH)
