Probers assessing Tanjay City fire
By Jimmy P. Abayon

ARSON investigators in Tanjay City are continuing as of Tuesday morning their assessment into the cause of Monday dawn's fire that razed a house in Barangay 9 leaving an 83-year-old World War II veteran dead.

A fire officer interviewed over radio dySR Tuesday morning said the city's fire marshal was still evaluating the fire's damage to life and property.

Initial investigation said the cause of the fire was still unknown as he confirmed that the occupant of the house, former WWII veteran Galicano Sibala, was alone when the fire broke out.

Neighbors claimed hearing cries of help inside the house as it was burning, but investigators could not confirm this.

Probers learned that the victim had been leaving alone after his children moved out to their own homes.
