84 avail of Peso help
By Jimmy P. Abayon

THE city's Public Employment Service Office (Peso) deployed 84 jobseekers abroad last year to work in the Middle East.

Socorro Mira, Peso manager of the city government said the workers that included 33 nurses, 22 service crew, 15 midwives, ten electricians and two engineers were deployed in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, in Dubai, Singapore, Hongkong and Australia.

For local employment, Mira said, her office helped employ 35 jobless workers to work as salesgirls, clerks, service crew and cashiers in different business establishments in Dumageute City.

Peso, she said, also referred 26 displaced workers to Tesda for livelihood skills training and food processing.

Peso was institutionalized through Resolution No. 290 enacting Ordinance No. 48 of 2002 and took effect on September 30, last year.
