Incest rape eyed reason for teener's suicide

A 17-YEAR-OLD girl from the town of Ayungon and working as a helper in this city following a rape ordeal involving her father killed herself by drinking pesticide a few days after the New Year.

Dolores Maputi, 27, of Barangay Tabuc Tubig and the unfortunate girl's employer, told police that she heard the helper, Ellen Dagudog, groaning with pain inside the room near noon on January 4 and that the latter confessed taking pesticide to kill herself.

The employer rushed the girl to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, but that the attending doctors failed to arrest the spread of the poison inside her body killing her almost three hours later.

Further investigations revealed that Dagudog had a family problem and an incest rape case against her father before the Regional Trial Court of Bais City.

Sun.Star Dumaguete also learned that the victim's mother had wanted the case withdrawn but that she refused. Neil C. Rio
