PNP to open savings bank

AGAN-AN, Sibulan -- Top officials of the Negros Oriental PNP Multi-purpose Cooperative revealed plans to open their own savings bank next week.

Police Community Relation Officer Sr. Insp. Rosalinda Abellon said the savings bank, to be located inside the compound of the provincial headquarters in Camp Fernandez, will be open to the public and will offer an interest rate of 6 percent per annum.

The program entitled "Savings Mobilization Program" of the Philippine National Police aims to explore the relationship between the police and the community.

Internal Affair Service Officer Supt. Rey Mericido, NOPNPMCOOP and Savings Bank chairman of the board of director, said the program is part of the expansion program and cooperative services of the police.

The members of the board of directors are Asst. Police Provincial director Supt. Diomedes Sombilon, PCR Officer Sr Insp. Rosalinda Abellon, Sibulan chief of police Insp. Benito Benarao, SPO4 Francisco Precioso, SPO2 Eutiquio Catacutan, SPO2 Edwin General and SPO2 Nilo Lauron.

In view of this, the PNP will launch the program on January 10, 2003.

he invited guests are Governor George Arnaiz, Negros Oriental Banker's Association President Carmen Consing, Land Bank officials and Central Visayas Polytechnic College President Dr. Henry Sojor.
