Public warned vs "Abakada" cops

SIBULAN - The Philippine National Police (PNP) urged the public to be vigilant against police misfits falling under the so-called "Abakadang Pulis".

The acronym stands for "Abusado, Bastos, Kutongiro at Di Kanais-nais na Pulis".

In line with this, the PNP launched a program dubbed "Oplan Crackdown" which aims to identify and crack down on rascals in uniform, minimize or eradicate extortion, bribery, graft and corruption, and illegal police activities.

The PNP urged the public to join the campaign to regain the people's trust and confidence and to continue clearing its ranks of misfits in service.

To complement the program, the police community relations office has set up a complaint and referral action center that would be accessible through a texting system called "Text Mate ko si Chief".

The public is urged to text 2929 and 2930 for complaints against abusive police officers. Neil C. Rio
