City vet warns anew vs dengue, loose dogs

THE Veterinarian Office in Dumaguete City warned anew dog owners that they would be penalized if they will violate the city ordinance against the anti-dengue campaign and loose dogs.

Dr. Lourdes Socorro, city veterinarian, head reminded the residents that they will be penalized based on the provisions of City Ordinance No. 85, Resolution No.482 or the anti-dengue campaign ordinance.

The first offender will be fined P100 for the first offense if city veterinarian inspectors found mosquito egg anywhere in the house.

Second offense means a fine of P500 and third offense P1,000 or imprisonment of not less than and not more than six months.

In her veterinary health bulletin dated February 14, Dr. Socorro called on residents, through their barangay captains, to demolish the possible breeding ground of mosquito and avoid penalty.

Dr. Socorro also reminded dog owners to be responsible pet keepers.

City Resolution No. 292 of Ordinance No. 15 provides that irresponsible dog owners will be fined from P2,000 to P3,000 or imprisonment of one month to 3 months if they failed to vaccinate their dogs.

She warned that her inspectors will not hesitate to kill all dogs roaming city streets and other places even if these are vaccinated.
