Villagers rescue 72-yr.-old in boat mishap
By Joe A. Medinilla

JIMALALUD, Negros Oriental - A fisherman from the town of Jimalalud found a 72-year old man floating on the high seas Monday after the latter's fishing boat capsized because of strong waves on the night of March 8.

Police identified the half-sick victim as Damaso Sabado, married, a resident of Guihulngan, two towns away from Jimalalud.

The fisherman Edward Estorco, 42, married, of Barangay Dayoyo, Jimalalud, Negros Oriental said he was fishing off the coast at around 8:00 a.m. when he found Sabado floating on the sea.

Villagers immediately treated the victim for a minor injury sustained during his two-day sea ordeal and returned to his home in Guihulngan early that afternoon.
