Power gadget inventor shrugs off Noreco complaint
By Victor L. Camion

THE inventor and owner of Ybanez Energy Saver (YES) gadgets shrugged off the complaint filed by the Negros Oriental I Electric Cooperative (Noreco) before the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Oriental.

Engr. Carlito Ybanez described the complaint as "pure harassment".

Noreco I earlier filed a complaint with the DTI against the producers of unregistered gadgets claming to be energy savers.

Noreco I General manager Angelito Carriaga said the energy savers should be registered with the proper agencies concerned and not just list its business name with the DTI.

Engr. Ybanez explained that his gadgets are registered with the DTI contrary to accusation.

Carriaga complained that the sale of energy saver gadgets has been abused and that these were being used to tamper electric meters in the guise of reducing electricity consumption.

Ybanez said any complaint against his gadgets should not be filed with DTI but with the court.

The inventor stressed that Noreco I contradicted its statements during a forum on energy saving devices when it reported apprehending 20 violators for illegally using energy saving devices that did not include YES products.

Ybanez said he was yet to receive a copy of the complaint.

The Department of Trade and Industry has set a hearing on the complaint third week of April.

DTI provincial regulation division chief Angeline Gonzales told SUN.STAR Dumaguete that the office scheduled the hearing after the holy week.

Expected to attend the hearing are officials of Ybanez Energy Saver, Noreco I and representatives from the Fuel and Appliance Testing Laboratory (FATL) of the Department of Energy in Manila.
