Local chess tourney opens By Rene R. Genove
Aspirants in the quest for supremacy in chess for Club 64 Inc. are showing their arsenals in the ongoing Atty. Jose P. Alamillo Memorial March Active Chess Tournament recently at the Club 64 Inc. playing hall, Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.
The game will be played via a 6-round Swiss Tournament System.
Early tournament leaders Wilmier Barron, Gemon Tolentino and Jason Mongcopa posted 2-win-0-loss record as other players scrambled for early strategic positions in the ladder board.
Other early winners with 1-win-0-loss record in the ongoing tourney are: King Bonganciso, Carlito Soriano, Philip Grejaldo, Kenneth Pinili, Rodel Generoso, Aster Senador, Charles Salon, Ephraim Salon, Clint Barron and Nestor Trumata.
The games are being played on weekends, 6 p.m., every Saturday and Sunday.
The 18-man-field participants to the Atty. Jose P.
