Energy saving device legal, says YES inventor By Jimmy P. Abayon
THE inventor of the controversial energy saving device maintained Tuesday that his product is legal and that Negros Oriental I Electric Cooperative (Noreco) I lapsed when it filed a complaint before the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Oriental.
Engr. Carlito Ybañez, proprietor of Ybañez Energy Savers (YES), maintained that his invention is "purely an energy saver" that does not tamper with the electric metre because it is not plugged directly to the meter but to an electric outlet.
The inventor likewise criticized Noreco I for filing a complaint before DTI-Negros Oriental and not to the court.
He said that he still awaits the reported summon from DTI for a scheduled hearing later this month with the Fuel and Appliance Testing Laboratory of the Energy Regulatory Commission.
"I have no problem (with Noreco I's complaint) because I am registered with DTI-Cagayan de Oro City," the YES owner said.
Ybañez said that not one of his clients in Negros Oriental or in his outlets all over the Philippines has complained about his product.
He said Noreco I initiated the complaint after he stopped "bribing" them, adding that he has vouchers to prove that several directors received money from him for his products.
"Gi cut-off nako ang doleout (I cut off the doleout)," Ybañez said.
