Prospect to nab Guinit dims
By Victor L. Camion

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) here admitted that the prospect of arresting Rayboy Guinit is dim with the failure of its intelligence network to trace the whereabouts of Dumaguete City's public enemy no. 1.

Senior Insp. Remegio Dejito, officer-in-charge of the city PNP, admitted that the local force has not received any report on the whereabouts of Guinit since the observance of Holy Week.

Dejito said that before then, the city PNP had been receiving reports of the sighting of Guinit in different barangays in the city.

But any attempt to nab the fugitive had been fruitless.

"Hinuon, pag-adto sa mga polis aron dakpon, negative sab (When the police went there, it turned out negative)," Dejito said.

Moreover, efforts to confirm the reports had failed, the PNP in charge said.

Dejito assumed as OIC of the city police force after city chief of police Supt. Constantino Barot Jr. went on leave following the death of his child.

The PNP named Guinit as the principal suspect in the series of hold-ups in Dumaguete that included the PNP-cooperative payroll robbery in Agan-an, Sibulan.

Guinit was also identified by a companion in the killing of a businessman from Valencia in Barangay Candau-ay last March.

The city's most wanted man carries a P200,000 reward in the form of projects for any barangay official who could provide information that would lead to his arrest.
