First executive chessfest winners By Rene R. Genove
CHESS champion Jun Nakar pocketed the First Executive "B" Chessfest in the 22-man field seven rounds Swiss tournament and grabbed the much-coveted Gov. George Arnaiz champion trophy recently at the Negros Club 64, Inc. playing hall, Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.
Runner-up Ben Bais accepted the Vice-Governor Jose Baldado trophy and third placer Gerardo Villahermosa was awarded the BM Ernesto Tijing trophy.
Trophies were donated from the Office of the Governor, Office of the Vice-Governor and Board Member Ernesto Tijing.
Meanwhile, The August Active Chess edition will start August 17 at the Club 64 Inc. playing hall, Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.
According to Negros Club 64 President Carlito Soriano that all games will be held only every Sunday afternoon where each participants are given only 30 minutes to play the whole game.
The Evan's Commercial will co-sponsor this month's edition of the August Active Chess tourney, jointly undertaken by the Negros Club 64, Inc. and the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental.
