Arnaiz wants deeds registrar sacked
By Adrian Sedillo

GOVERNOR George Arnaiz has an early Christmas gift for Provincial Registry of Deeds officer Atty. Clark Amante -- he wants him sacked.

The governor asked the Provincial Board (PB) to pass a resolution dismissing Amante from his post.

The decision came immediately after Arnaiz, accompanied by Vice Gov. Jose Baldado and Board Member Arturo Umbac, made a surprise check at the Office of the Registry of Deeds at the start of office hours, and discovered that Amante had not yet arrived for work. Only three office workers were around.

The governor had video camera footages taken from the surprise visit, to be sent to the Land Registration Administration (LRA) as evidence against the deeds officer.

The governor later returned to the same office around 9 a.m. and found that Amante has not yet reported.

The surprise visit was made following mounting public complaints that the officer is always out, Arnaiz said.

Arnaiz said the registrar has demeaned his position. He disclosed that Amante also failed to turn up for a meeting that the officer himself scheduled with him last Wednesday.
