Monitor 'Sex Scandal' VCD: City to NBI, CIDG By Victor L. Camion
THE Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Criminal Investigation Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) is to monitor the possible proliferation of the pirated video compact disc of the controversial "Sex Scandal" movie.
Mayor Agustin Perdices had given the plea, saying he is apprehensive irresponsible businessmen will market the pirated copies of the sex scandal VCDs and DVD.
The mayor urged Dumaguetenos not to patronize VCDs and DVD copies of the film as a sign of unity to the cause of City officials and the victimized girls and their families.
Earlier, movie operators pledged to ban the showing of "Sex Scandal", which is based on the Dumaguete sex scandal. Perdices lauded the movie house owners' cooperation.
A Francis "Jun" Posadas film, "Sex Scandal" stars Danna Garcel and Anne Borromeo with bold actors Allen Dizon, JP Obaligacion and Gerald Lauron.
He admitted that the City Government can no longer stop the showing of the film in Metro Manila.
Vice Mayor William Ablong said Provincial Board Member Mariant Escano-Villegas personally telephoned the Movie, Television, Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to request it to withdraw its approval of the release of the film.
But, Ablong said, MTRCB chairperson Ma. Consoliza Laguardia had told Villegas that the board could not do anything because it has approved the release of the film.
He said the chairperson assured that Dumaguete City has not been mentioned in the film.
But City Councilor Rommel Erames said that although Dumaguete City may have not been mentioned in the movie, the actors and actresses in the film told media interviews that the movie was based on the Dumaguete sex scandal.
