Blind housewife foils rape try By Victor L. Camion
GUIHULNGAN, Negros Oriental -- A 41-year-old blind housewife thwarted Sunday an attempt by a 30-year-old man to rape her in Maniac village after overpowering her attacker.
Demetria (not her real name) identified the suspect as Wilson Rasola, 30, single, of Hibaiyo, Guihulngan.
While Dina (not hear real name) identified her second cousin as Erwin Flores, 20.
The blind housewife told police she was fetching water in a deep well about 1.5 kilometers from her house when the suspect, allegedly armed with a scythe, approached.
Rasola then allegedly placed the scythe against her neck and tried to rape her but that she managed to grapple with the suspect.
She said she succeeded in wresting the scythe from Rasola and hacked him, injuring the suspect in different parts of the body.
Rasola is now confined at the hospital in Guihulngan.
A rape charge was immediately filed before the Municipal Trial Court in Guihulngan against the suspect.
But in the village of Hibaiyo, an 11-year-old girl was raped by her 20-year-old cousin.
Dina (not her real name), accompanied by her parents, told police she was alone inside their house last November 22 when her cousin Erwin Flores raped her.
In Dumaguete City, a 42-year-old married man is facing a rape charge before the Regional Trial Court after raping a 16-year-old girl inside a boarding house in Purok Everlasting, Sitio Canday-ong, Calindagan village more than a week ago.
The victim, Nena (not her real name) told police she was sleeping inside her room when the suspect Rower Calingacion, married, a friend of her board mate, allegedly raped her.
She said she woke up about 4:00 o'clock in the morning to find Calingacion hugging her at the same time caressing her breast and stomach.
Nena said she noticed that her private part was already wet and believed the suspect had raped her while she was sleeping.
The girl managed to get out and reported the incident to her employer who then sought police help.
