Salma vows more services to people
By Syril G. Repe

TANJAY CITY -- Amidst thunderous applause and cheers from an estimated crowd of 5,000 supporters at the jam-packed Sergio Salma Sports Centre here, Mayor Baltazar Salma pledged to pursue his projects and programs and give more services to his people during the opening salvo and proclamation rally of the administration line-up Thursday evening.

The opening salvo of the ticket's formal campaign for the May 10 election began with a holy mass at St. James Parish Church around 4:00 in the afternoon, followed by a motorcade around the city and ending up with the proclamation of the candidates at the city's sports centre.

Wild applause shook the center as Rep. Emilio Macias II and Governor George Arnaiz officially proclaimed the reelectionist mayor, Vice Mayor Lawrence Teves, and their ten candidates for the City Council.

Salma and his ticket are running under the Basta Tinooray nga Serbisyo (BTS)-Walang Iwanan.

Also present during the rally were Provincial Board members Erwin Macias, Mariant-Escaño-Villegas, Lucy Villegas, and Arturo Umbac.

In his speech during the rally, Mayor Salma pledged his group, BTS, will continue the projects and programs his administration has started from the building of new roads in the hinterlands to the distribution of free medicines.

He vowed that under his term, he will finish the construction of the city's modern Public Market and take control of the Tanjay Water District.

Salma said his group has not been spared of the harassment from his rivals, but that it was only normal because of the election campaign.
