Dengue cases up
By Maricar Aranas

DENGUE cases in Dumaguete City have gone up, but health officer Dr. Erlinda Cabrera assured it should not be a cause for alarm.

The city health office recorded 61 dengue cases from January to August, this year which, Dr. Cabrera said, were higher compared to the same period last year.

Barangay Taclobo consistently ranked on top with the most number of cases and because of its higher population density followed by Piapi, Daro, Batinguel, Junob, and Banilad.

The health officer said that although the figure is not alarming, the public must not relax.

Cabrera reminded barangay officials to help inform the public about the four o'clock habit by cleaning their backyard of mosquito breeding sites.

This year is considered epidemic year for dengue.

So far, only Barangay Tabuc Tubig, Poblacion 8, 6, and 4 have not had any case of dengue.
