Sibulan tournament opens

SIBULAN, Negros Oriental -- Sports enthusiasts can expect lively days ahead with the opening of the Inter-Barangay, Inter-High School and Inter-Elementary Basketball and Volleyball Tournament here.

The tournament, scheduled at the Sibulan covered court, was organized by the Federated 4-H Club of Sibulan and the Youth Council through the local government unit of Sibulan.

It carries the theme "4-H Reload: A Challenge for Youth Empowerment."

Through the activity, the federation aims "to help build solidarity and socialization among Sibulanons in terms of sports and cultural activities," said Miss Jeany Grace Gomez, President of the Federated 4-H Club.

Ms. Gomez said the tournament will beheld every Saturday and Sunday starting this month up to November.

The participants of the basketball and volleyball tournaments represent 13 barangays, one secondary school and the four elementary schools of Sibulan.

The over-all champion in the elementary, secondary and women volleyball categories will represent the municipality in the 2nd conference of the Governor's Cup to be held on January next year.

The guests during the opening ceremony were Mayor Antonio D. Renacia, who delivered the opening remarks, Gil Genaro Concepcion, member of the Committee on Youth and Sports Development, and Mr. Rodolfo Amor, Municipal Agriculturist.
