Cops hunt lover of slain woman
By Syril G. Repe

POLICE continue to hunt a 53-year-old married man for reportedly gunning down his alleged 26-year-old paramour inside her rented house near the new Bagacay cemetery at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police identified the suspect as Ricardo Peralta of DBF compound, Bagacay, and the woman as Jonah Tan who was hit on the left side of the body.

Tan is believed to be estranged from her husband.

As reported to the police, two witnesses, Rogie Sinahon, 26, married, and Clifford Pal-ing, 23, of Maria, Siquijor, alleged relatives of Tan, said before the incident they and Peralta had drinks at Moonbits Bar along Cervantes St. after which they went to Bagacay.

They found the rented house closed. Peralta went to the back of the house to look for Tan.

Minutes after they heard loud arguments and gunfire.

Both said Peralta called them for help saying the woman was wounded.

The three men rushed Tan to Holy Child Hospital, but on arriving the attending doctor declared her dead.

Sinahon and Pal-ing said Peralta left the hospital who, as of press time, remains missing.

The police recovered a .45 caliber pistol slug from the crime scene.

But in another twist, the two witnesses told a different story in a second report to the police.

Both said they left Moonbeats Bar around 1:00 Sunday dawn on board a motorcycle with Tan and headed for her rented house near the Bagacay cemetery.

On reaching the house, they found its lights on and were surprised since they left it unlighted hours before.

Inside the house premise, they discovered the main door and another side door locked.

Tan then allegedly called up Peralta who arrived about four minutes later on board a silver motorcycle.

The two men said Tan and Peralta talked near the gate.

Moments later, they said they heard Tan complaining: "Agay Sai, sakit baya na."

A few seconds later, they heard gunfire and saw Peralta motioning with his hands and shouting: "Tabangi ko kay si Nana nadisgrasya!"

Both hurried to where Peralta was and saw Tan lying on her left side on the concrete pavement.

Sinahon said he noticed Tan's blouse raised up and blood flowing on the left side of her body.

Along with Peralta, they rushed Tan to Holy Child Hospital where she was declared dead a few minutes after.

Sinahon said he told Peralta that Tan was dead.

The alleged lover cried and minutes after left the hospital.
