Cops nab 14-year-old shabu runner
By Maricar Aranas

POLICE turned over to the City Social Welfare Office (CSWO) a 14-year-old boy they arrested early this week for carrying a caliber .38 revolver.

The boy's arrest followed a tip-off that drug traffickers were using the boy (name withheld), a student of Dumaguete City High School, to deliver and sell shabu in Barangay Looc.

On investigation, the minor said the gun belonged to a certain "Boboy" whose complete name and address, he said, he does not know.

SPO1 Manuel Sanchez of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Agency, who caught and arrested the boy, said the minor violated the law particularly involving illegal drugs.

In a related development, a gay is languishing at the city police's detention center following his arrest this week for possessing shabu.

Police identified the suspect as Jovito Macalipay Tenebro, 38, single of Barangay Calindagan.

During investigation, Tenebro admitted owning the substance, which, he said, he bought for P400, and only to discover that it was not shabu but ephidrine, an ingredient for making the drug.

The suspect said he is willing to face charges.

He stressed that he does not deal in drugs but only uses it.

Police are now examining the substance to find out whether it is shabu or ephedrine.
