Sibulan facelifts image to attract investments By Edmund Sestoso
SIBULAN, Negros Oriental -- This municipality is undergoing a facelift to attract tourists and encourage the entry of investments.
Mayor Antonio Renacia disclosed that the facelift will include the construction of a boulevard stretching from Nillas Extension to McArthur St. to decongest and make the more accessible and passable.
Renacia said the municipality is poised to complete its new two-storey public market with funds expected from local, provincial, congressional and national sources.
The mayor said he has already requested the municipal council to authorize him to borrow money from banks and other financial institutions.
The other projects include a new and bigger slaughterhouse and turning Barangay San Antonio into the second growth center for upland barangays through a planned satellite market and terminal.
He said the entry of new businesses will help control the drain of manpower from the municipality.
The mayor said his administration will build a modern cockpit before the end of the year.
"Cockfighting is one of the traditional past times among Filipinos and tourists, the facility will bring in more people, thus contribute in our investment promotion efforts," Renacia said.
He said he will also pursue a serious environmental program to protect The municipality's forests, and marine and freshwater resources.
