4 more drug suspects nabbed
By Syril G. Repe

THE ongoing police campaign against illegal drugs netted police four more suspects following separate raids in different parts of Dumaguete City from Monday to Thursday.

Latest to fall was Dante Nuevo, 25, single, of Piapi Beach whose arrest Thursday yielded a pack of what is believed to be shabu and P200 sale.

Nuevo was arrested in a buy bust operation conducted by a joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the city police at the Looc public market.

The agents collared the suspect after the latter turned over the pack of shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

At around two o'clock afternoon of the same day, another police team arrested Israel Martinez, 25, married, of Barangay Bagacay after catching him possessing four packets of the illegal substance in Looc.

Before three o'clock the same afternoon, police arrested Pietro Alano, 23, single of Hibbard Avenue in Barangay Bantayan.

Police said Alano was acting suspiciously and when they confronted and frisked him, they uncovered the banned drug and P300 from his person.

In an earlier incident, the police arrested Tuesday a 41-year-old jobless and married man from Barangay Suba in Bayawan City.

Police identified the suspect as Adonis Jimenez.

Arresting officers Glenn Corsame, Alfonso Enriquez, and Francisco Benarao said Jimenez's arrest followed a tip from a concerned citizen that the suspect was dealing drugs.

Responding to the call, the officers rushed to Looc and caught the suspect and on inspecting him, discovered and lthen confiscated several marijuana cigarettes and two sachets containing shabu from him.

The four men are detained and have been charged with violating the anti-drugs law. (With Hermie Tresquio and Mary Anoinette Vincoy)
