Cop's sons, 5 others charged for drugs use
By Neil C. Rio and Maricar Aranas

TWO sons of a Tayasan policeman and five others were charged Monday for violating the anti-drugs law before the Dumaguete City Prosecutor's Office after they were busted during an alleged 'pot session' in Purok Makugihon, Barangay Cantil-e, Saturday morning.

Charged were James Keith Taub, 18, and Geger Taub, 23, of Barangay Pinalubhan, Tayasan and sons of a policeman; Reynante Orillana, 35, Maximiano Villalon, 30, Edward Inquig, 40, all single, and residents of Cantil-e; and Ronald Vaño-Uy, 24, and Santiago Vaño-Uy, 20, single and also of Barangay Pinalubngan, Tayasan, Negros Oriental.

Their arrest came after Cantil-e barangay chairperson Alejandra Sanchez called Dumaguete City police about a group of people believed to be having a pot session in Purok Makugihon.

A team of policemen led by Inspector Teddy Faburada immediately proceeded to Cantil-e and accompanied by barangay officials and tanods led by Sanchez, busted the drug session.

The team confiscated rolling paper, dried marijuana leaves and seeds, a pair of scissors, marijuana cigarette stubs, two plastic sachets containing the residue of what is believed to be shabu from the suspects.

The suspects are now detained at the city police detention cells.

In a related development, the police in Dumaguete City are hunting for a man who escaped a police raid in his house Friday afternoon in Barangay Looc.

Task Force 24, a joint team of drug busters from different law enforcement agencies, identified the suspect as Samuel Bonagan, alias Judas.

The suspect was not in his house when the task force swooped in to serve a search warrant.

The team confiscated 11 sachets of a substance believed to be shabu, a caliber .38 magazine, and three caliber .32 bullets.

Bonagan, the police said, had been arrested in the past, but was released because of technicality.
