3 killed in freak road accident By Neil C. Rio
MANJUYOD, Negros Oriental -- Three motorists died instantly in a freak road accident involving their motorcycle, a parked tricycle, and a land cruiser jeep Saturday afternoon in Barangay Suba, between Kilometers 57-58.
Police identified the fatalities as Neil Melquiades, 32, driver of the motorcycle, and back riders Exces Jadraque, 17, single, both of Barangay Campuyo, Manjuyod, and Elias Babor, 26, single, of Barangay Bolisong, also in Manjuyod.
The police said the red Honda Wave 125 motorcycle was speeding along the national highway going south when it crashed into a parked tricycle between Kilometer 57-58.
The impact banged the head of Melquiades on the tricycle causing his death while his two back riders plunged onto the road resulting in serious injuries.
A speeding Toyota Land Cruiser then allegedly passed, uncontrolled by the sudden incident, and ran onto Babor.
The motorists were rushed to Bais District Hospital, but they were already dead on the way.
The drivers of the land cruiser and tricycle turned themselves over to the Manjuyod police.
