Dumaguete grabs 16 golds, lands 6th in atheletes' meet By Syril G. Repe
THE Dumaguete City team landed a poor sixth with 16 gold, 32 silver, and 30 bronze medals in the April 17-22 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet (CVRAA) 2005 held at the Diosdado Macapagal Sports Complex, in Dumanjug, Cebu City.
Cebu City dominated the six-day games, hauling 131 gold medals, 116 silver, and 95 bronze followed by Cebu Province with 54 gold, 46 silver, and 53 bronze medals.
Eduardo Tayko, Dumaguete team contingent chief, said the delegation's haul were courtesy of Earl Jason Bilangdal and Zoe Meguito who collected five golds in swimming in the secondary boys and girls category respectively, and Josiah Adrian Jabel who won two gold in the athletic events-elementary school category.
The other medalists in the secondary level were Macy Solon for Lawn Tennis-girls category, and Charlton Alasbastro who secured two gold in swimming.
The Dumaguetenos collected other gold in the 4x 100 meters medly relay for secondary boys and girls.
Oriental Negros landed fourth place and collected 32 gold medals, 27 silver, and 42 bronze. Tanjay City and Bais City managed a gold medal each.
