Fight v. dengue, malaria strengthened By Victor L. Camion
THE municipality of Valencia strengthened its fight against mosquito-caused diseases malaria and dengue fever.
The fight will be on general clean-up drive.
Mayor Rodolfo Gonzalez, Jr. believed that sanitation to the countryside is an effective way of fighting against the mosquito-virus carrier that caused killer malaria and dengue fever.
This rainy season, clean-up drive is a huge help in protecting Valencianons from mosquito-caused diseases.
Starting next month, every first Saturday of the month, will be declared as general clean-up day in Valencia town.
All barangays here will participate the simultaneous clean-up drive to maintain a dirt-free environment throughout the town.
Valencia has a total of 24 barangays which majority of its barangay captains have committed themselves to support the campaign.
The Mayor, however, assured to issue an executive order directing all barangay captains to lead their constituents in cleaning up their respective barangay every first Saturday of the month.
Village chiefs are expected to mobilize the residents in their barangay to participate the activity which will be conducted at least two to three hours preferably in the morning.
Gonzalez is optimistic that this activity will lessen cases of diseases that caused by filthy environment.
Valencia town has been adjudged in the annual search of "Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran" as the cleanest and greenest municipality in the province.
