Child abuse raps against teacher withdrawn By Adrian Sedillo
THE Provincial Office of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) withdrew the complaint it filed before the Ombudsman for the Visayas against a teacher of Bolisong Elementary School in the municipality of Manjuyod for child abuse.
CHR Provincial Investigator Jesus Cañete said the teacher, Evangeline Antipuesto, has complied with the three conditions set by the family of the boy whom she allegedly maltreated.
Cañete said Antipuesto has agreed to transfer to another school, apologized to the boy's family, and agreed to shoulder the expenses to process the complaint.
The CHR investigator said he has filed an affidavit of desistance before the Ombudsman and cleared the teacher for her transfer to Lukay Elementary School also in Manjuyod.
He said the settlement of the case was the CHR's first time to apply the Alternative Dispute Resolution process, a system to resolve a complaint at the office level.
The commission charged Antipuesto before the Ombudsman after its investigation confirmed that the teacher abused the rights of the boy, a grade 5 pupil of Bolisong Elementary School, when she told her son to punch him in her presence a few months ago.
