Cops to study 24-hour crime lab request By Edmund Sestoso
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Oriental assured to study a request from the Dumaguete City Council to open its crime laboratory 24 hours a day to accommodate evidences in the evening and on weekends.
Provincial PNP Crime Laboratory Chief Inspector Alet Virtucio gave the assurance before the regular session of the City Council on Thursday.
City Councilor Manuel Sagarbarria invited Virtucio to the session to enlighten the City Council on the operation of the crime laboratory.
Sagarbarria noted that in many instances, evidences like confiscated illegal drugs could not immediately because secured because the laboratory is closed. on weekends.
Virtucio agreed with the councilor's observation, but explained that the laboratory had to be closed on weekends for lack of personnel.
