Jailed mom asks for help By Neil C. Rio and Adrian Sedillo
AYUNGON, Negros Oriental -- A woman arrested last week for alleged illegal drug trafficking appealed for help to lower her bail so she could be out temporarily to care for her children.
Agents of Task Force 24 arrested the suspect Patricia Caballeros, 37, of Barangay Lawis, Ozamis City, Thursday noon during a buy bust operation in Barangay Iniban, Ayungon.
Caballeros said she was dissatisfied with the government lawyer appointed as her counsel.
Caballeros claimed she was confused and that she had no idea about the implication of what she had done and that her only wish was to be out of jail to have her diseased kidney treated.
The task force led by the joint teams from the Provincial Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (PAIDSOTF) headed by Senior Police Officer 4 Artemio Barrera and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led by Senior Police Officer 1 Manuel Sanchez conducted the operation.
The agents arrested Caballeros while handing over a pack of the illegal drug to a policeman acting as a buyer.
Recovered from her were 17 plastic sachets containing what is believed to be shabu and two P500 bills used as marked money.
The suspect was charged before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
