Lusabia: September affair
By Sister Clarissa Lusabia
Omega and Alpha

(last of two parts)

THERE will be no Christmas this year for the lovers of beef, pork, poultry, or seafood, unless you wake up and move! There will be no decors for your home, nor toys for your children. No clothes or shoes for the family. Composers will create Christmas "lamentations" to rise to the occasion. No Christmas cheers!

Drug addicts will abound because they think they are the children of love and that "pushing" drugs is the best and fastest way to earn money. They will also fast track their records. They think that drugs will control the stresses of hunger or poverty. They think they are smarter than most of us and that their lifestyle is one of "survival". Drugs have ruined the best minds of our best children. Even drug addicts will not have their Christmas this year or in the next.

For drunkards who pretend they are "hubog" (drunk) even if they are "sabog" (drugged), they better wake up to the realization that they are still part of the social community and that the drug menace will never help them any bit but instead of rising from whatever pit they have fallen into, they will plunge into the asphalt quagmire of misery...forever! Drug abuse is like stepping out of the spinning earth, lying by the cosmic sidewalks, waiting while others "do" and remain active in the daily chores of life.

Christmas is not only for people who can afford, but also for people who have hearts and souls...living homosapiens whose hearts and souls throb for one another on this earth. Christmas is for real Christians for whom the Almighty Son of God saved unconditionally.

Christmas is for people who really care. Those who love people and also love animals, and even care about the environment. Christmas is for people who lift one another up. It is not for people who are first in finding fault with one another; it is not an annual celebration of coup d état. Jingle bells have never been reduced to the lowest terms of the noise barrage and Christmas cards have never been minimized into placards. Photos and images remind us of our loved ones, but have never been reduced to effigies that are burned with the all-the-time respected national flag or marred the honored sacred artifacts.

Christmas is for people who would like their birth country to be beautiful, second to none. It is for people who would like cooperation to blossom among them, like the fragrance of ilang-ilang (fragrant floral blossoms) that enrich and enhance the already beautiful surroundings and innately blessed environment.

Christmas is for people who love themselves and love their country. Will Christmas be for you?
