Guv leads two-day child convention By Edmund Sestoso
NEGROS Oriental Governor George Armaiz will lead the two-day Child and Youth Convention of more than a thousand child delegates from 150 elementary schools and private schools throughout the province on October 27-28.
The governor is expected to dwell on today's children in the province and what the Capitol leadership has done for their welfare and protection of their rights.
The annual convention is part of the celebration of Children's Month in October.
On the same dates, a two-day live-in consultation and advocacy workshop on domestic child labor will be held at Plaza Maria Luisa.
The event is a joint project of the Provincial Government and the St. Maria Goretti Foundation headed by Bacong parish priest, Monsignor Merlin Logronio.
Participants to the advocacy workshop include parish pastoral council presidents, social committee chairpersons, civic society organizations, and the Diocesan Basic Ecclesiastical Communities.
Governor Arnaiz said the twin activity will enhance his Child Friendly Movement program.
The program is included in the extended activities of Unicef's Country Program for Children, and part of the interventions for children in need of special protection.
